Daily UX Writing Challenge: №.2
I recently signed up for a writing challenge by Daily UX Writing, which was exciting as I finally attained some hands-on practice of being a UX writer.
I previously took an introductory online course around a year ago on KelasWork.com. I can now use my notes to showcase the step-by-step process of creating the appropriate UX writing.
And of course, any comments or feedback is much appreciated!
Here’s case study Day 2:

- OVERVIEW
— Situation: A working parent who is a passionate sports fan, is in the midst of their favorite sports season but can no longer attend the games in real-time.
— Objective: To develop and write a promotional screen for an app feature that allows the user to pick teams to then receive game reminders, real-time news/score updates, and highlighted videos.
- HYPOTHESIS
— Thoughts: Being an avid sports fan, the user looks out for consistent updates on their favorite teams, including details on upcoming matches, live scores, and game highlights.
— Assumption: Use a concise headline to relay the desired pieces of information. Craft an engaging copy that can immediately attract the user.
- IMPLEMENTATION
— Headline (40 characters max):
“Choose your team and get your updates now!”
[Reasoning:] This type of headline should be concise and also carry a precise copy with action words such as “Choose” and “Get”, offering the user clear information and a direct invitation to take action.
— Body (175 characters max):
“No more missing out! Click the buttons to choose a team, see upcoming matches, view live scores, and watch match highlights.”
[Reasoning:] Clear and informative copy. Provides elaborative and inviting instructions where the user can select and receive the type of information that they are looking for.
— Button(s) (25 characters max):
(1) “Choose Your Team”
(2) “Next Match Schedule”
(3) “See All Live Scores”
(4) “Highlighted Matches”
[Reasoning:] As per the brief, there are four kinds of information that the user craves. Therefore, I developed four separate button copies that will take the user to the information that they are aiming for.
- RESULT
Direct and actionable language. Using an understanding of the nature of sports enthusiasts who desire quick updates on their favorite teams, I aimed for a concise and spirited copy to motivate the user to get the information they need.
— Benefits: The user will have an easy and direct navigation through the action-oriented copies and buttons as they are getting the updates they are looking for.
— Lessons Learned: A
